From the intersection of Route 395 and 85 in Waterford, take Route 85 southeast as though you were going to the Crystal Mall. Take the first left which is Douglas Lane.

Coming from the Crystal Mall, Drive northeast past the Target store and take your first right onto Douglas Lane.

Drive about a mile down Douglas Lane to the intersection of Vauxhall St Ext. Take a right here onto Vauxhall St Ext. and travel about .4 of a mile to find the entrance to Leary Park on the left, opposite Silva Street. Pull into Leary Park and follow only road into the park. Park as far down as you can. You will see a ball field off to the left and at the end of the paved road is a cement rest room building. Walk to the left of the rest room building and follow the unpaved dirt road. When you come to a stone wall on the right, there you see a tennis court on the left and a small children’s playground on the right with a slide and swings, go to the small playground. Go to the southwest corner of the small playground to a trail entrance. Follow this trail. It is very short and quickly comes out of the woods overlooking a ball field. Still follow the trail between the fence and ball field. The trail will suddenly stop in back of the ball field outfield fence. Follow along the back of that fence a very short distance to see a trail down the sloping hill on your right. As you enter this trail you will notice a stone wall on each side of the trail. From this wall, walk 35 steps down the trail. Stop here. And see a oak tree off the trail in front of a broken down stone wall. The tree grows into a Y trunk at about neck level. Look at the base of the south side of the tree. Under a lot of sticks is the letterbox. Return the way you came. The "In Search of the Billy Goat Curse" letterbox will be pulled, never to appear again, as soon as the Chicago Cubs Wrigley Field has a world series game played in it.
